The Labour & Industrial Relations Department

The Organization consists of the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations (DLIR) and six (6) Statutory Offices. They are the Office of Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Tribunal and Minimum Wage Board (INAR), the Office of the Industrial Registrar (OIR), the Office of the Workers Compensation (OWC), the National Training Council (NTC), the National Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Board (NATTB), and the Independence Fellowship Scheme (IFS).
The Department and the six (6) Statutory Offices ensure the effective performance management and compliance. They review staff performance, audit activities, and report these to Parliament through the Minister as the mandatory requirement.

The Secretary of the DLIR and all Heads of the Statutory Offices report directly to the Minister for Labour and Industrial Relations. The DLIR has three (3) Deputy Secretaries – the Deputy Secretary for Corporate Services, Deputy Secretary for Industrial Relations and Compliance, and Deputy Secretary for Policy, Employment and International Labour Affairs. The Department has a capacity of approximately 399 staff across eight (8) key programmes.
