Program 3: Industrial Relations

The Industrial Relation Programme promotes industrial stability and ensures conductive environment for economic growth. The Programme endeavors to create and maintain harmonious industrial relations climate by settling and enforcing mutually acceptable terms and conditions of employment. It settles industrial disputes arising out of breach of the terms and conditions of employment, and administer relevant industrial laws.

Functional Responsibilities

The functional responsibilities of the Industrial Relations Programme are to:
• resolve industrial disputes;
• promote and maintain harmonious workplace relations between employees and employers;
• provide advisory services to employees and employers;
• facilitate collective bargaining regarding terms and conditions of employment;
• promote social dialogue between employers and employees’ organizations on improved terms and conditions of employment; and
• administer and enforce the Industrial Relations Act 1962 and the Employment Act 1978.
