Program 6: Policy

The Policy Programme provides policy advice to the Secretary of the Department, assists with policy submissions to the NEC, and assist in the compilation of annual reports. Further, it designs and reviews policies to suit various working environments and ensures relevant strategies such as corporate, operational and legislative drafts are formulated and implemented.

Functional Responsibilities

The functional responsibilities of the Policy Programme are to:
• ensure appropriate policies are developed, like the National Employment Policy; OSH Policy, Labour Market Information Policy, Child Labour Policy and others;
• conduct labour market research;
• develop regulatory policy or framework for seasonal workers;
• enhance collaboration with other government agencies, especially NSO to collect and analyze labour market information; and
• monitor and evaluates the programme implementation of the Organization
