Executive Branch

The Office of the Secretary is supported by the 3 Deputy Secretaries. The executive management team is headed by the Secretary who oversees the operations of the Department and reports to Government through the Minister as required by law. The Executive Branch is support by the legal officer, the internal auditor, the public relations officer, the GESI officer and support staff.

Functional Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the Executive Branch are to:
• provide corporate leadership and ensure the prudent financial and human resource management;
• provide advice to government on labour, employment and industrial matters;
• coordinate Programmes of the Department, the six Statutory Offices, and social partners;
• enforce the Public Service Management Act (PSMA), the General Orders (GO), and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) within the organization;
• seek government and donor assistance and cooperation for labour, employment and industrial matters; and
• promote and maintain an effective corporate image through public relations programmes.
