Industrial Concilliation & Arbitration Tribunal
The Office of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Tribunal and Minimum Wages Board facilitates the settlement process under the Industrial Relations Act 1962, the Public Service Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1969, the Teaching Service Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1971 and formulates minimum wages policies for the country. Further, the Office promotes and sustains industrial peace and harmony at the workplaces.
Functional Responsibilities
The functional responsibilities of the INAR are to:
• promote fundamental labour standards and enhance conciliatory processes and harmonious work place relations;
• conduct tribunal hearings for the public service, the teaching service, and the private sector disputes;
• liaise with HR to demarcate long-term institutional strengthening and capacity building programmes for resolving and preventing industrial disputes;
• undertake, oversee and coordinate with all state agencies and stakeholders for the establishment and operation of the Industrial Relations Commission; and
• review the Industrial Relations Act 1962 and other enabling legislations to promote a fair, safe, healthy, and productive work place.
