Programme 8: International Labour Affairs

The International Labour Affairs Programme attends to all international labour affairs of the Department and Statutory. It is the focal point for all matters concerning international labour affairs, including ratification, implementation, and reporting on international labour standards and the ILO conventions, including PNG ratified core conventions.

Functional Responsibilities

The functional responsibilities of the International Labour Affairs Programme are to:
• undertake reporting obligations as required;
• coordinate and attend to all ILO activities;
• act as focal point between ILO, GoPNG, and employers and workers’ organizations;
• undertake appropriate action to ensure PNG complies with its constitutional obligation as a member state of the ILO; and
• conduct research on the ratifications of ILO’s conventions and related matters.
