The Office of the Industrial Registrar

The Office of the Industrial Registrar is a Statutory Office under the Ministry. The Office, as the administrator and regulator, facilitates employers and employees’ rights and freedom to form or join a union, and collectively bargain under the various legal frameworks.

Functional Responsibilities

The functional responsibilities of the Office of the Industrial Registrar are to:
• regulate and enforce compliance to the Industrial Organization Act, and the Rules and Constitutions of registered organizations;
• register and monitor industrial organizations;
• register industrial agreements and awards;
• regulate industrial organisations;
• regulate industrial agreements;
• supervise secret ballots; and
• train union officials (capacity building).
